WA Health strongly supports a risk based approach to identify and manage any risks associated with new or existing industries, developments or technologies that have the potential to impact on the health or amenity of Western Australian communities.
This approach recognises that all situations carry some degree of risk, but that thorough analysis of the risks will lead to decisions and conditions that will minimise any potential for harm to individuals and communities. The Human Health Risk Assessment for Port Hedland adopted this guiding principle.
The Port Hedland Health Risk Assessment is only one of a number of assessments and reports that the Government will take into account in recommending future management approaches for the town of Port Hedland.
The Port Hedland Health Risk Assessment Report (PDF 4MB) comprises two documents (in a single pdf file) that are intended to be read together.
