Healthcare associated infections
WA Health is committed to improving the safety and quality of care in our hospitals. This includes a commitment to publicly reporting on infections that people may acquire while being cared for in a healthcare setting (a healthcare-associated infection).
Our hospitals have surveillance programs to monitor healthcare associated infections and data is reviewed regularly to identify where improvements can be made to improve patient safety. Compliance with hand hygiene, the use of antibiotic prophylaxis and infection prevention strategies aimed at reducing healthcare associated infections are monitored in order to prevent these infections from occurring.
