Goldfields celebrates hospital redevelopment

Visitors and locals from the Goldfields and surrounding areas now have access to upgraded, modern treatment facilities with the completion of the final phase of the $59.6 million redevelopment of Kalgoorlie Health Campus.

The redevelopment included a cancer centre, specialist and outpatient facilities and allied health services, giving the Goldfields and surrounds more options for local, modern treatment.

The new block will tie into earlier phases of the redevelopment, which included a palliative care unit, new emergency department, high dependency unit and medical imaging department.

As a result of the innovative design and advances in medical technology, Kalgoorlie Health Campus has a modern facility staffed by telehealth specialists, doctors, nurses and allied health staff who offer care for patients closer to home.

Kalgoorlie Health Campus caters for 56,000 Goldfields residents, including a large number of fly-in, fly-out workers.

The new $3.8 million cancer centre has four chemotherapy chairs, a treatment room, a group meeting room and consulting rooms for outpatient and oncologist appointments.
