State-run COVID-19 vaccination clinic update

State-run vaccination clinics across Western Australia will scale down, a result of WA’s world-leading vaccination rate, with pop up clinics to continue for target priority groups.

Vaccines are still available from participating GPs and pharmacies for those requiring vaccinations or boosters. People should visit Roll up for WA  or VaccinateWA for provider locations and booking details.

The State-run Claremont Showgrounds clinic has closed after  administering 590,000 vaccinations since it was established in April 2021.

Armadale, Maddington and Wanneroo clinics were recently closed, while Joondalup (27 October), Midland (29 October),  Mirrabooka (6 November) and Kwinana (6 November) clinics will close in a phased approach by the end of the year.

Chief Health Officer Dr Andrew Robertson said smaller and more flexible ‘pop-up’ clinics will continue to target priority groups.

“Thanks to Western Australians’ overwhelming commitment to keeping themselves healthy and safe, more than 6.9 million vaccinations have been delivered,” Dr Robertson said.

“I’d like to thank the Vaccination Program staff for their professional and dedicated work in administering what is a major part of the State’s biggest ever emergency health response.

“Scaling back vaccination clinics will free up resources and staff to devote time towards pop-up clinics, with others returning to other roles within the health system.”
