COVID-19 update: 18 May 2022

WA Health is reporting a total of 16,253 new cases to 8pm last night. There are currently 88,100 active cases in Western Australia.

To 8pm last night, there were 327 people with COVID-19 in hospital, 12 in ICU.

Sadly, today’s report includes three deaths reported to WA Health yesterday. The deaths date back to the 15th of May and include two men in their 90s; and a man in his 80’s.

Due to confidentiality, no further information will be released by the Department.

Notes

  1. This data is based on the residential postcode of each case. The case may have an isolation address in another region.
  2. The remainder of daily cases reported (160) are yet to have a region assigned. Data will continue to be reconfigured as this information is verified.

Of the 16,253 cases, 5174 were confirmed via PCR test, the remaining 11,079 were self-reported positive rapid antigen tests.

A total of 18,365 PCR tests were conducted at either state-run or private pathology clinics yesterday.

WA has recorded 592,541 cases since the COVID-19 pandemic began.
