COVID-19 update 24 May 2022

WA Health is reporting a total of 12,114 new cases to 8pm last night. There are currently 81,866 active cases in Western Australia.

To 8pm last night, there were 312 people with COVID-19 in hospital, 12 in ICU.

Sadly, today’s report includes six deaths, which date back to 10 May and were reported to WA Health yesterday; a man and woman in their 90s, two men in their 80s, as well as a man and woman in their 70s.


Due to confidentiality, no further information will be released by the Department.

Notes

  1. This data is based on the residential postcode of each case. The case may have an isolation address in another region.
  2. The remainder of daily cases reported (118) are yet to have a region assigned. Data will continue to be reconfigured as this information is verified.

Of the 12,114 cases, 2,944 were confirmed via PCR test, the remaining 9,170 were self-reported positive rapid antigen tests.

A total of 16,312 PCR tests were conducted at either state-run or private pathology clinics yesterday.

WA has recorded 672,008 cases since the COVID-19 pandemic began.
