COVID-19 update 3 March 2022

WA Health is reporting a total of 2,423 new cases to 8pm last night. There are currently 8,419 active cases in Western Australia.

Sadly, WA Health can confirm one person – a female in her 80s – who tested positive for COVID-19 has passed away in the 24-hour period to 8pm last night. Due to patient confidentiality, no further information will be released by the Department on this death.

To 8pm last night, there were 22 people with COVID-19 in hospital, none of whom were in ICU.

Of the 2,423 cases, 1,580 were confirmed via PCR test, the remaining 843 were self-reported positive rapid antigen tests.

A total of 15,103 PCR tests were conducted at either state-run or private pathology clinics yesterday.

WA has recorded 14,589 cases since the COVID-19 pandemic began.
