COVID-19 update 18 August 2022

WA Health is reporting a total of 2,210 new cases to 6pm last night. There are currently 11,964 active cases in Western Australia.

Latest figures from overnight show there were 267 people with COVID-19 in hospital, 7 in ICU.

Sadly, today’s report includes nine deaths, which were reported to WA Health yesterday – dating back to 25 July - a man and a woman in their 90s; two women in their 80s; two women in their 70s; two women and a man in his 60s.

Notes:

  1. This data is based on the residential postcode of each case. The case may have an isolation address in another region.
  2. The remainder of daily cases reported (46) are yet to have a region assigned. Data will continue to be reconfigured as this information is verified.

Of the 2,210 cases, 775 were confirmed via PCR test, the remaining 1,435 were self-reported positive rapid antigen tests.

A total of 4,459 PCR tests were conducted at either state-run or private pathology clinics yesterday.

WA has recorded 1,112,078 cases since the COVID-19 pandemic began.
