COVID-19 update: 3 April 2022

WA Health is reporting a total of 6,439 new cases to 8pm last night. There are currently 53,952 active cases in Western Australia.

To 8pm last night, there were 221 people with COVID-19 in hospital, seven in ICU.

Today’s report also includes three historical deaths dating back to 26 March, which were reported to WA Health yesterday, a man in his 80s, a man in his 90s and a woman in her 90s.

Due to patient confidentiality, no further information will be released by the Department on these deaths.

Notes:

  1. This data is based on the residential postcode of each case. The case may have an isolation address in another region.
  2. The remainder of daily cases reported (244) are yet to have a region assigned. Data will continue to be reconfigured as this information is verified.

Of the 6,439 cases, 2,778 were confirmed via PCR test, the remaining 3,661 were self-reported positive rapid antigen tests.

A total 10,338 PCR tests were conducted at either state-run or private pathology clinics yesterday.

WA has recorded 196,781 cases since the COVID-19 pandemic began.
