COVID-19 update 24 April 2021: New community case confirmed – get tested if you have been to a listed location or are symptomatic
The WA Health Department has this afternoon confirmed a positive test result has been returned from a person within the community.
The person presented for a COVID-19 test yesterday as they had attended one of the locations visited by the confirmed COVID-19 Victorian case, and the related local case.
The person is now working closely with the Department’s contact tracing team to determine public exposure sites (external site).
The Department will continue to update this information as it comes to hand.
If you have attended a site listed as requiring 14-days quarantine, you must get tested and complete the full 14-days self-quarantine – regardless of your result.
If you have attended one of the other listed locations, get tested and remain at home until you receive a negative result.
Even if you have not visited one of the locations, if you have symptoms, get tested and self-isolate until you get your result. Do not be complacent. It is imperative you always follow the public health instructions.
There are currently more than 25 testing locations in the Perth and Peel region – so attend the one closest to you. All sites and opening hours are listed on the HealthyWA website.
You do not need a referral – even if you are attending a private pathology collection centre, and there is no cost.
There are lines at some clinics. We ask people to be patient – bring some water and a hat and be prepared to wait an extended period. Please wear a mask and maintain physical distancing.
COVID-19 vaccination is the best protection against the virus for workers and members of the public. Therefore, we encourage people to get the vaccination as soon as they become eligible.
