COVID-19 update 18 October 2021

WA Health is reporting no new cases of COVID-19 overnight.

The State’s total remains at 1112. To date, 1099 people have recovered from the virus in WA.

As of last night, WA Health was monitoring four active COVID-19 cases, including three people who are in hotel quarantine and one in Fiona Stanley Hospital from the vessel MV Stolt Sakura.

All contacts of a truck driver who tested positive to COVID-19 in Victoria and was potentially infectious while in WA have returned a negative result. All close contacts have completed 14 days of self-quarantine.

Testing clinics

Yesterday, 344 people were swabbed at State-run clinics. To date, there have been 1,826,820 COVID-19 tests performed in WA. Of those, 212,374 were in regional WA.

COVID-19 vaccinations*

Since vaccination numbers were reported on Friday, 15 October, 60,816 COVID-19 vaccine doses were recorded in WA – 32,319 of these were second doses. The total includes 12,726 historic COVID-19 vaccine doses*. These figures represent COVID-19 vaccinations at State-run clinics and doses given as part of the Commonwealth rollout**.

Vaccination information:

• New and expanded COVID-19 vaccination clinics are opening across Perth including
• New clinics open today at Armadale Central Shopping Centre and The Square, Mirrabooka (appointments are preferred but not required)
• A new clinic at Perth Airport for FIFO workers.
• Drop-in appointments are available for everyone aged 12 years and over at the Claremont and Joondalup COVID-19 vaccination community clinics.
• Drop-in community clinics are available for young people aged 16 years and over (year 11 and 12) and school staff (external site). 
• Western Australian children aged 12 to 15 years are eligible for a Pfizer COVID-19 vaccination (external site). Parents and guardians are encouraged to visit rollup.wa.gov.au (external site) to register and book appointments for their children in this age group.
• There are many regional COVID-19 vaccination clinics open across WA.
• The Moderna COVID-19 vaccine (external site) is available at selected WA pharmacies. To find a pharmacy offering the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine, visit Vaccine Clinic Finder (external site) or findapharmacy (external site).

Mandatory vaccinations apply to the following workers based on the latest public health advice. Further details are available online.

• Health care workers
• FIFO and other resource sector workers
• Dunsborough school leavers
• Freight, transport and logistics workers
• Port workers who board or work with exposed vessels.

Directions are being drafted to make vaccinations mandatory for Primary and community health workers.
