COVID-19 update 29 July 2021

WA Health has reported six new cases of COVID-19 overnight. These cases were announced yesterday outside the reporting period and are all from the bulk carrier MV Darya Krishna.

The State’s total stands at 1057.

There are now 16 active COVID-19 cases being monitored by WA Health: one in hotel quarantine; three in hospital from the MV Darya Krishna; six onboard the MV Darya Krishna and six onboard the MV BBC California.

One MV Darya Krishna crew member remains in ICU in a stable condition. The other two crew members are in a stable condition on a respiratory ward.

To date, 1032 people have recovered from the virus in WA.

WA Health is monitoring a Queensland report of a man who travelled from Brisbane and arrived in Perth by plane on 18 July. The man, who tested negative to COVID-19 at Perth Airport, did not have approval to enter Western Australia and returned to Queensland aboard a flight on the morning of 20 July. He tested positive to COVID-19 on 27 July.

Though considered extremely low risk, WA Health asks everyone at Perth Terminal 4 between 4am and 7am on 20 July to monitor for symptoms and get tested immediately if they develop.

Queensland Health are managing contract-tracing in relation to this case.

Note: *WA vaccination data for the WA COVID-19 Vaccination Dashboard is sourced from the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR). AIR is a national register maintained by the Australian Government that records all vaccines given to all people in Australia. WA data includes all COVID-19 vaccinations in WA, whether administered by WA Health, Australian Government providers or other providers (including GPs). WA previously reported only WA Health data. Note that the dashboard does not update until after 2pm Monday to Friday. A vaccine dashboard data interpretation guide (external site) is also available to help you.
