WA Health has reported one new case of COVID-19 overnight. This case is the third crew member from the container vessel MV Darya Krishna who was transferred to Fiona Stanley Hospital on Monday and was not included in yesterday’s case numbers.
The State’s total stands at 1051.
There are now ten active COVID-19 cases being monitored by WA Health, including one in hotel quarantine; three in hospital linked to the MV Darya Krishna and six on onboard the MV BBC California, which berthed at Fremantle several weeks ago.
Please note: There are six additional cases linked to the MV Darya Krishna which were identified after today’s reporting period concluded. These cases will be included in tomorrow’s statement.
One MV Darya Krishna crew member remains in ICU in a serious but stable condition and the other two crew members are in a stable condition on a respiratory ward.
To date, 1032 people have recovered from the virus in WA.
Testing clinics
Yesterday, 1102 people were swabbed at State-run clinics. To date there have been 1,501,084 COVID-19 tests performed in WA. Of those, 181,547 were from regional WA.

Vaccination
Yesterday, WA recorded a record numbers of vaccinations with 15,508 people being administered a dose – 10,008 of those were second doses. These figures represent vaccinations at State-run clinics and doses given as part of the Federal rollout.

Border controls
Western Australia has assessed New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia and Victoria as medium risk (external site) states. The Australian Capital Territory is low risk (external site). The Northern Territory and Tasmania are considered very low risk (external site).
Variants
To date, 118 cases of variant strains have been detected in Western Australia – 53 Alpha strain, 15 Beta strain, one Gamma strain and 49 Delta strain.
