COVID-19 update 27 March 2021
The Department of Health has reported no new cases of COVID-19 overnight.
The State’s total number remains at 934.
WA Health is monitoring 10 active cases of COVID-19 and 915 people have recovered from the virus in WA.
To date, the WA Department of Health has administered 44,048 COVID-19 vaccinations, including 4025 people who have received both doses. Yesterday, 2382 people were vaccinated.

Yesterday, 247 people presented for testing at WA Health COVD clinics and 247 were assessed and 246 swabbed.
There have been 931,175 COVID-19 tests performed in WA. Of those, 134,455 were from regional WA.
To date, 36 cases of variant strains have been detected in Western Australia (26 of the B.1.1.7 strain and 10 of the B.1.351 strain).

Note: The cases of variant strains reported above are not new cases. Genome sequencing – to define the strain of the virus – is a separate laboratory process carried out after someone tests positive to COVID-19. All cases, regardless of strain, are managed by WA’s public health experts. The strains previously reported as the UK variant strain and South African variant strain will now be referred to as B.1.1.7 and B.1.351 respectively.
