COVID-19 update – 22 October 2020

The Department of Health has reported eight new cases of COVID-19 in Western Australia overnight.

The confirmed cases – four males and four females aged between three and 62 – are all returned travellers in hotel quarantine.

Key Integrity: Eight crew were transported from the vessel to hotel quarantine in Perth. This includes the two confirmed COVID-19 cases. Twelve crew, who have previously tested negative for COVID-19, remain on-board as essential crew.

AL Messilah: Deep cleaning of the AL Messilah is now complete. The vessel remains at berth in Fremantle with 16 crew on-board. The Department of Health continues to work with the shipping agent, Fremantle Ports and the Australian Maritime Safety Authority on its management.

The State’s total confirmed cases now stands at 747.

There are 48 active cases being monitored by WA Health and 690 people have recovered from the virus.

Yesterday 462 people presented to WA COVID-19 clinics – 443 were assessed and swabbed.

There have been 469,045 COVID-19 tests performed in WA. Of those tested, 79,604 were from regional WA.
