WA Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Intersex (LGBTI) Health Strategy 2019 – 2024
The WA LGBTI Health Strategy 2019 – 2024 (the Strategy) is a first of its kind in Western Australia (WA) and strives to improve the health and wellbeing of LGBTI populations.
The Strategy sets out clear priorities and outcomes for the WA health system, Health Service Providers and health services on policy development and service delivery to achieve optimal health and wellbeing outcomes for LGBTI populations.
Commitment beyond 2024
WA Health is supporting the development of the whole-of-government WA LGBTI Health Strategy 2019 – 2024 (PDF 3MB). The Strategy will continue into 2025 to guide delivery of initiatives until the new WA strategy is launched.

Working Together
The Strategy is the result of contributions from a broad range of LGBTI populations. It is a platform to articulate their voices and provides an insight into their personal and deep reflections on their health experience and needs.
LGBTI people were involved in the development of the Strategy through a series of face-to-face community conversations and online surveys. More than 600 submissions were received, that detailed the priorities LGBTI people would like to see addressed.
A Reference Group of community members and representatives from the WA health system, coordinated by Health Networks has overseen the consultation process and collaborated to develop the Strategy, bringing their knowledge, expertise and experience to the translation of the consultation into the final document.
