In Western Australian, Emergency Management is coordinated by the State Emergency Management Committee (external site). Roles and responsibilities are designated to various agencies as gazetted under the Emergency Management Act 2005 (external site) and Emergency Management Regulations 2006 (external site).
WA Health is a designated Hazard Management Agency for heatwave and human epidemic as outlined in the State Emergency Management Plans; State Hazard Plan – Heatwave (external site) and State Hazard Plan – Human Biosecurity (external site).
WA Health also provides a coordinated health response to a major incident or disaster as defined in the support plan, State Health Emergency Response Plan (PDF 1MB), WA Health Emergency Management Arrangements (PDF 2MB) and the Infectious Disease Emergency Management Plan (PDF 403KB).
