Applicable to: This policy is applicable to Health Service Providers that provide maternity services and child health services.
Description: The Safe Infant Sleeping Policy (the policy) sets the minimum requirements for the consistent approach to safe infant sleeping practices across the WA health system.
Safe infant sleeping practices and messages are used across the WA health system to reduce the risk and incidence of Sudden Unexpected Death in Infancy (SUDI). This policy promotes best safe infant sleeping practices through mandating safe infant sleeping training for staff and promoting key messages regarding safe infant sleeping.
This policy is a mandatory requirement for Health Service Providers under the Clinical Services Planning and Programs Policy Framework pursuant to section 26(2)(c) of the Health Services Act 2016.
