Award nomination process
Follow the step-by-step guide to prepare and submit your applications for the 2024 WA Health Excellence Awards.
1. Choose the award category
Select the category that best fits your achievements to make your nomination shine.
2. Read the terms and conditions
Read the terms and conditions for important information on eligibility, endorsement and other requirements.
3. Prepare your nomination
Start planning early. Preparing a quality written nomination can take a few weeks. Allow enough time for proofreading, rewriting, end editing.
You must complete the nomination form for the category you are nominating for.
Each nomination form must include a brief summary (250 words max) highlighting the situation, actions taken and outcomes for your nomination.
Each nomination must also include the responses to each nomination question.
4. Submit nomination
Nominations (external site) for the WA Health Excellence Awards 2024 close at 5:00 pm on Friday 26 July 2024. No late entries will be accepted.
Tips for award nominations
- Use plain English – each judge will be reading through many submissions and you want yours to be easy to read to avoid frustration.
- Avoid industry jargon in your entry – judges are chosen to review entries where they are least likely to have a conflict. In most cases this means they will not be familiar with your area of work. Therefore you should answer in a way that suits a general audience.
- Appoint a person to take ownership of the nomination. Ensure this person is able to work to a timeline.
- Make a timeline so you are able to respond before the entry deadline.
- Look at the score allocation on each of the questions – this will direct where you should put in the effort.
- Look at using bullet points instead of very long sentences.
- The devil is in the detail. Use the most relevant detail first e.g. you’re entering a project which is saving 100 lives per year, don't start your answer with ‘we purchased a machine that does clever things.’
- Proofread your entry before submitting and get someone you trust to also read and make suggestions.
- Make sure that you own the rights to the project you are submitting i.e. if you have copied a project from another area this is their work, not yours. If the base work belongs to someone else you need to acknowledge this, but you can describe how your enhancements have made the project better.
- Always make sure your evaluation is matched to your objectives.
